چکیده

Abstract Metamaterials have attracted wide scientific interest to break fundamental bounds on materials properties. Recently, the field has been extending coupled physical phenomena where one physics acts as driving force for another. Stimuli-responsive or 4D metamaterials demonstrated thermo-elasticity, magneto-optics piezo-electricity. Herein, a soft, ultra-compact and accurate microrobot is described which can achieve controlled motion under thermal stimuli. The system consists of an organized assembly two functional structures: rotational translational element. Both elements are designed basing upon principle thermoelastic bilayer plate that bends temperature changes. Samples fabricated using gray-tone lithography from single polymer but with different laser writing powers, making each part in its mechanical behaviors. Excellent motion-controllable, reversible stable features dry environment verified by simulations experiments, revealing broad application prospects soft micro actuators.

Tensional acoustomechanical soft metamaterials

We create acoustomechanical soft metamaterials whose response to uniaxial tensile stressing can be easily tailored by programming acoustic wave inputs, resulting in force versus stretch curves that exhibit distinct monotonic, s-shape, plateau and non-monotonic snapping behaviors. We theoretically demonstrate this unique metamaterial by considering a thin soft material sheet impinged by two coun...

3D soft metamaterials with negative Poisson's ratio.

Buckling is exploited to design a new class of three-dimensional metamaterials with negative Poisson's ratio. A library of auxetic building blocks is identified and procedures are defined to guide their selection and assembly. The auxetic properties of these materials are demonstrated both through experiments and finite element simulations and exhibit excellent qualitative and quantitative agre...

Microfabricated bistable module for digital microrobotics

High precision microrobots are needed more and more to perform micro/nanomanipulation and microassembly tasks in various environments like microrobotic stations, electronic microscopes (SEM, TEM), etc. Current microrobots are based on the use of smart materials to perform proportional or incremental actuation. To avoid the main drawbacks of these microrobots (non linearities, integration of sen...

PhD position on cobotic manipulation for microrobotics

This PhD project aims to develop an industrial grade desktop micromanipulation system. It is a joint project between Percipio Robotics and ISIR/UPMC and as such, it is expected to occur much closer to the industry. Its final objective is a product with a high maturity and market value. It builds on the previous developments and existing products of partners and as such requires precise engineer...

Temporary fixing systems for applications in Microrobotics

This paper focuses on temporary fixing systems for microrobotics. Several solutions from the state of the art are presented and compared: solutions based on mechanical bending, electromagnetic elements, electrostatic forces, glues, polymers or Van der Waals forces. From this analysis, we designed and developed a new system based on thermal glue (that permits to exchange the tip part of a microg...
